Everyday Life

Port Vila, Vanuatu. July 2024

PLACES

Camera in hand, I sit in the middle of town near the busy Central Market in Port Vila, and absorb the rhythm of everyday life.

Here, patience and tolerance run high. There is no need to rush. No sign of rage. Utes, vans and small trucks overloaded with people who seem unknown to each other, to-and-fro with ease.

A family holiday has brought us to Vanuatu, and it will become a firm favourite. This time we have our two adult children accompanying us, perhaps for the last time as a group of four. I’m quietly aware of it and deeply grateful.
